So I take it you’re referring to the fact that with The Lost Films I broke into sections (lost and/or films like Prophecies of Nostradamus as opposed to unfilmed screenplays like Two Godzillas). Who convinced you to switch to a linear prose layout? The text layout in your books sometimes brake down and sorted information into sections reference book style. In other words, instead of just saying that Godzilla beats the monster in the end, I tried to include the more interesting bits of choreography. Mostly to just hit the high points, and to be sure to include minor details that we as fans would considering important. For struggling screenwriters out there (including myself to be honest), what is your process in outlining these scripts? Phoenix and the American Godzillas are long, sometimes one paragraph, pieces that paint a full picture of the story without bogging down in minor plot points. The “In-Depth Look” sections for Gamera vs. Orca, but I made sure I didn’t just cut and paste the chapter from Kong into Jaws, it’s different and has new information. The Kong and Jaws books have one lost film in common in the form of King Kong vs. Most of the chapters were Appendix entries for The Lost Films that just got too big and detailed so I decided it would be better to make that its own book. Was there difficulty in avoiding repetition? Writing Japanese Monsters, as well as your Kong and Jaws books, cover similar topics and ground, yet they don’t “echo” each other. I had forgotten that some people drew parallels between the ‘14 Godzilla and Redmoon! I have a hunch that one’s just coincidence, but you never know. How many “connections” between existing films and unmade projects do you tend to notice? People have pointed out how Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla (2014) compares to Godzilla vs. Plus lots of other people have already written on it.

I definitely prefer to write on the ones without as much information out there, so yeah, writing about something like the DeBont Godzilla is a little less fun because it could be a book unto itself.
